Visual Notes for the City of Vancouver’s 2018 Plan

You can feel the energy in a venue packed to standing-room only.

We were thrilled to draw among the engaged crowd at the City of Vancouver, WA "State of the City" address at the end of March.

The address is an annual report by the mayor, describing accomplishments of the previous year and goals for the year to come. Our task was to further engage attendees while drawing live at the event, and provide visual notes that could be used to recap the meeting for citizens who could not be present.

Since the event was an efficient 30 minutes long, we worked with the City prior to the event to gather the themes of the address and create a visual flow. Then during the live event, we were able to focus on timing, placement and being ready for impromptu additions.

Pre-event drafting but can be a solution for making sure all important content can be captured at an event that flies by.

The result was a vibrant, energetic and lighthearted drawing to match the Vancouver, WA citizens we met during the event.
